BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE PHILIPPINES PROCLAMATION NO. 101

AUTHORIZING THE UNITED WAY PHILIPPINES, INC., TO conDucT A NATIONAL EDUCATIONAL AND FUND CAMPAIGN DURING THE PERIOD FROM APRIL 1, 1987 TO MARCH 31, 1988.

WHEREAS, the United Way Philippines, Inc., formerly ommunity Chests and Councils of the Philippines, Inc.;

as been engaged in the fundins of self-help community ealth and welfare services, as well as in the promotion of the economic well-being of the people, in the different. pparts of the country;

WHEREAS, to these ends, units of the Barangay Rural “Improvement Corps (BRIC) have been organized in almost all he provinces, cities and municipalities of the Philippines;

WHEREAS, the unique operation of the BRIC induced the. olding of the 5th International Conference on United Fund aising in Manila on May 5-10, 1979, which was attended by elegates from several nations that accepted the BRIC-as a odel for their countries;

WHEREAS , such program of rural development is supportive f the objectives of the New Government to fully develop the ural areas under the aegis of the New Constitution; and

: WHEREAS, it is desired that the humanitarian objectives f the United Way be fully attained.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, CORAZON C. AQUINO, President of the hilippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, o hereby authorize the United Way Philippines, Inc., to mconduct a national educational and fund campaign during the Speriod from April 1, 1987 to March 31, 1988.

I hereby call upon all residents, of whatever race or Bcreed, business firms, organizations, and government officials Band employees in the areas above mentioned to fully support sthe campaigns of the United Way in the Philippines by giving sgenerously of their means and efforts to this one annual

ppeal campaign for the promotion of the health welfare and conomic well-being of our less fortunate and underprivileged ountrymen, in their respective areas of operation.
