BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE PHILIPPINES PROCLAMATION NO. 1442

DECLARING WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 9, 2008, AS SPECIAL (NON- WORKING) DAY IN THE PROVINCE OF PANGASINAN

WHEREAS, Wednesday, January 9, 2008, marks the celebration of Pangasinan Veterans’ Day in the Province of Pangasinan;

WHEREAS, January 9, 1945 commemorates the triumphant Lingayen Gulf Landing of the Allied Forces which showcased the heroism and bravery of Filipino soldiers, guerillas and civilians but also recognizes the tremendous contributions and valiant sacrifices of our veterans;

WHEREAS, it is but fitting and proper that the people of the Province of Pangasinan be given full opportunity to celebrate the occasion with appropriate ceremonies.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, EDUARDO R. ERMITA, Executive Secretary, by authority of Her Excellency, GLORIA MACAPAGAL-ARROYO, do hereby declare Wednesday, January 9, 2008 as special (non-working) day in the Province of Pangasinan.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
