BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE PHILIPPINES PROCLAMATION NO. 1474

DECLARING THE PERIOD APRIL 21 TO 27, 2008 AS“HOG FARMERS WEEK”

WHEREAS, the National Federation of Hog Farmers, Inc. (NFHFI), a non-

' stock, non-profit umbrella organization of autonomous associations; with a total ~ individual membership of more than 2,000 hog farmers, will hold its 17" National Convention and Trade Exhibit on April 24 to 26, 2008 at the Cebu International Convention Center, Mandaue City, Cebu:

WHEREAS, it is necessary to focus attention on the role the hog- farming sector plays in accelerating the development of the livestock industry;

WHEREAS, there is an imperative need to rechannel the hog farmers’ energies towards excellence in production and animal health to become most vital in the daily food chain responsible for the Filipino consumers’ pork requirements; and

WHEREAS, NFHFI believes in being self-directed and empowered to- instill in all its members and actualize the goals of the present administration's food security prografn.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, GLORIA MACAPAGAL ARROYO, President of the Republic of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do nereby declare the period April 21 to 27, 2008 as “Hog Farmers Week”.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
