DECLARING MARCH 1770 OF EACH YEAR aS 'TLAMON NAGSAYSAY fENCRTAT

WIGREAS, Ranon Magsaysay in his lifetime devoted ‘Himself unselfishly to improving the lot of the humble and the poor of fis countrymen;

WHERT.S, Raton Magsaysay hes sarned the mratituée of the “Filisine weople by bridging the centuries-old gap between the government and the people and making the concent ot “government for the people" a working reality;

' WHEREAS, Ramon Magsaysay has strengthened tle cause of ‘freedom and liberty, not only for the Pilivine people but for the sntire free world by his valiant and unrelenting crusade sagainst the onemies of denocracy; and

WHSREAS, March 17th will be remembered i history as the day when the Pilipino nation and the entire free world lost one of hor wost beloved leaders;

_ NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND &. MARCOS, President of the Philiopines, by virtue of the powers vested in ine by lew, do hereby déclare March 17, 1966, and every March 17¢h hereafter | as "Rajon Mapsaysay Memorial Day! Its observance shall include the following commemorative features:

(1) All Philippines flags hore antl sbroad shall be flown at half-mast;

(2) A 2l-gun salute shsli be fired at nigh noon in all Philippine military areas, after which the flags shall again be raised; and

(3) All public schools ond wovernment offices throughout the country shall hold brief prosrams not to exceed 30 mimites, the again features of which are the reading of the Magsaysay Credo and a one-minute silent prayer.
