PROCLAMATION NO. 1555.

DECLARING SEPTEMBER 12, 2008 AS A NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER FOR PEACE AND RECONCILIATION OF OUR NATION

WHEREAS, the promotion of peace and unity among the Filipino people remains to be one of the highest goals of the government;

WHEREAS, this goal nas all too often iost its retevance in our nation, which is beset by hostility, bitterness, constant conflict, and toc much politics:

WHEREAS, our country is facing several “stenges, which require the steadfast devetion of every Filipino to work for tae common good and for the betterment of our country:

WHEREAS, a day of prayer for peace and :econciliation may serve to promote the attainment of our national goals;

WHEREAS, in order to make reaffirmation of cur commitment to cromote the attainment of this goal, through persona! refiection, change in attitudes, and solidarity for the public welfare and the development cf cur country, September 12 . of tast year had been declared as a Natienal Day of Prayer, Reparation and Consecration for our Nation;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, GLORIA MACAPAGSi-ARROY®O, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do nereby declare September 12, 2008 us a Nationa! Day of Prayer for Peace and Reconciliation of our Nation. ,
