Proclamation No. 161

REVOKING PROCLAMATION NO. 611, SERIES OF 1933, AND ESTABLISHING AS TONGONAN HOT SPRING NATIONAL PARK FOR THE BENEFIT AND ENJOYMENT OF THE PEOPLE OF THE PHILIPPINES THE PARCEL OF PUBLIC DOMAIN SITUATED IN THE MUNICIPALITY OF ORMOC, PROVINCE OF LEYTE, ISLAND OF LEYTE.

Upon the recommendation of the Secretary of Agriculture and Commerce, I, Manuel L. Quezon, President of the Philippines, hereby revoke Proclamation Numbered Six hundred and eleven, dated August tirty-first, nineteen hundred and thirty-three, reserving the "Tongonan Hot Spring" for the use of the Insular Government and the general public, a parcel of public domain, situated in the municipality of Ormoc, Province of Leyte, Island of Leyte; and pursuant to the provisions of section one of Act Numbered Thirty-nine hundred and fifteen, entitled "An Act providing for the establishment of national parks, declaring such parks as game refuges, and for the other purposes," I hereby reserve for park purposes for the benefit and enjoyment of the people of the Philippines and withdraw from sale, settlement, or other disposition, subject to private rights, if any there be, the following-described parcel of the public domain situated in the municipality of Ormoc, Province of Leyte, Island of Leyte, and described in Bureau of Forestry map No. N. P.-15, to wit:

Beginning at point marked "1" on Bureau of Forestry map No. N. P.-15, a narra tree, 40 cm. diameter, marked N. P. 152/109, at junction of Bao and Malaihao Rivers, which is N. 15˚ E., about 13,200 meters from the municipality of Ormoc, Leyte; thence following Malaihao River upstream in northwesterly and northeasterly directions, about 500 meters to corner 2, a white nato tree, 30 cm. diameter, marked N. P. 152/96, on the southeast bank of Malaihao River; thence following Malaihao River in north-north easterly directions, about 280 meters to corner 3, a yakal tree, 50 cm. diameter, marked N. P. 152/92, on the east bank of Malaihao River; thence N. 72˚ E., 200 meters to corner 4, a red lauan tree, 60 cm. diameter, marked N. P. 152/90, on the north edge of clearing of M. Cañiga; thence S. 78˚ E., 290 meters to corner 5, a pili tree, 25 cm. diameter, marked N. P. 152/76, on the east bank of Malitbog River; thence S. 6˚ E., 280 meters to corner 6, a red lauan tree, 40 cm. diameter, marked N. P. 152/44, on the east side of ridge; thence N. 80˚ E., 250 meters to corner 7, a binuang tree, 60 cm. diameter, marked N. P. 152/37, on the northwest bank of Banate River; thence N. 57˚ E., 230 meters to corner 8, a malugai tree, 20 cm. diameter, marked N. P. 147/90, on the side of a slope; thence S. 27˚ W., 130 meters to corner 19, a pugahan tree, 20 cm. diameter, marked N. P. 147/94, at the edge of a caingin; thence S. 10˚ E., 240 meters to corner 20, a bagtikan tree, 50 cm. diameter, marked N. P. 147/101, on the east side of a trail; thence following the trail general in a southwesterly direction about 480 meters to corner 21, a loktob tree, 30 cm. diameter, marked N. P. 147/108, at the junction of Bao River and Bagtic Creek; thence S. 86˚ W., 220 meters to corner 22, a balobo tree, 20 cm. diameter, marked N. P. 147/112, north of a trail; thence S. 86˚ W., 190 meters to corner 23, a balobo tree, 20 cm. diameter, marked N. P. 147/116, south of a trail; thence N. 57˚ W., 210 meters to corner 24, a duguan tree, 40 cm. diameter, marked N. P. 147/119, at the edge of a cultivation; thence N. 76˚ W., 250 meters to corner 25, a bahay tree, 100 cm. diameter, marked N. P. 147/122, east of a trail; thence N. 87˚ W., 160 meters to corner 26, a camahoyan tree, 40 cm. diameter, marked N. P. 147/126, at the edge of a cultivation; thence N. 10˚ W., 250 meters to corner 27, a taluto tree, 35 cm. diameter, marked N. P. 147/1, northwest of a trail; thence N. 56˚ W., 150 meters to corner 28, bugulan tree, 30 cm. diameter, marked N. P. 147/134, at the edge of a cultivation; thence N. 45˚ W., 220 metes to corner 29, a lonuk tree (stump), 200 cm. diameter, marked N. P. 147/137, at the edge of a cultivation; thence N. 85˚ W., 220 meters to corner 30, a bagtikan tree, 80 cm. diameter, marked N. P. 147/138, at the edge of a cultivation; thence N. 10˚ E., 360 meters to corner 31, a lanete tree, 30 cm. diameter, marked N. P. 152/115, on the west bank of Bao River; and thence following Bao Riber upstream in general north-north-westerly directions about 400 meters to corner 1, the point of beginning.

Corners 1 to 4, 6 to 11, and 31 were marked with Bureau of Forestry official marking-hatchet No. 214; and corners 5 and 12 to 30, inclusive, with B. F. 497.

Containing an aggregate area of approximately 272 hectares.

The said parcel of land shall be known as the Tongonan Hot Spring National Park and shall remain under the administration of the Bureau of Forestry, subject to the general executive control and supervision of the Secretary of Agriculture and Commerce.
