Proclamation No. 163

CALLING FOR SPECIAL ELECTION TO FILL THE EXISTING VACANCY OF ASSEMBLYMAN FOR CAMARINES NORTE

Whereas, the National Assembly in its Resolution Numbered Fifty-four adopted on October twenty-second, nineteen hundred and thirty-six, has certified that a vacancy exists in the membership of the National Assembly for the Province of Camarines Norte, as a result of the annulment of the election of Honorable Cayetano Lukban to that position;

Now, therefore, by virtue of the authority conferred upon me by Commonwealth Act Numbered Twenty-one, I, Manuel L. Quezon, President of the Philippines, hereby issue this proclamation and call a special election to take place on Tuesday, the third day of August, nineteen hundred and thirty-seven, in the Province of Camarines Norte for the purpose of electing a member for the unexpired portion of the term for which Honorable Cayetano Lukban was elected.

The provisions of the General Election Law and Commonwealth Act Numbered Twenty-one shall be followed in the conduct of the special election herein called.

Pursuant to the provisions of section thirty of the Revised Administrative Code, and in order to permit the free access of duly qualified voters to the polls, I hereby declare Tuesday, August third, nineteen hundred and thirty-seven, a special public holiday in the province above-named.

In witness whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Commonwealth of the Philippines to be affixed.
