BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE PHILIPPINES PROCLAMATION NO. 1640

DECLARING THE PERIOD FROM NOVEMBER 24 TO 30, 2008 AS “CIVIL ENGINEERING WEEK”

WHEREAS, the Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers, Inc. (PICE), will hold its 34" National Convention on November 27 to 29, 2008 at the Cagayan de Oro City;

WHEREAS, there is a need to focus national attention on the importance of the civil engineering profession and highlight its role in nation building.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, GLORIA MACAPAGAL-ARROYO, President of the Republic of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare the period from November 24 to 30, 2008 as “Civil Engineering Week”, under the auspices of the Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers, Inc.

I call upon all civil engineers and students to give the observance of the week their full support.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
