MALACANANG, MANILA MflJ +'1J PROC:LAMATIOH NiO. 169 , DECLARING THE THIRD WEEK OF JUI.Y OF EVERY YEAR AS "NATIONAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY WEEK," ANDAtORIZING THE DEPARTMENT OF SCIKNCE AND TECHNOLOGY TO UNDERTAKE APPROPRIATE COMMEMORATIVECEREMONIES AND A(IVITIES WITH THE SUPPORT OF O'l'HER GOVERNMENT AGENCIES AND THE PRIVATE SECTOR THEREBY AMENDING PROCLAMATION NO. 2214 DATED 30 JUNE 1982 WHEREAS, section 10, Article XIV of the Constitutionprovides that "science and technology are essential for national development and progress x x x"; MIEREAS, Proclamation No. 2214 dateddeclares the second week of July of every "National Science and T'9chnology 'eek" (NSTW); 30 June year as 1982 the WlIEREAS, the celebration of the NSTW is aimed at providing an opportunity to focus regional and national attention on the contribution of science and technology to national development and to give recognition and appreciation to outstanding' accomplishments and personalities in science and technology; WHEREAS, there is a need to move the celebration of theNSTW from the second week of July of every year to the third week bf the same month to afford the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) additional time to prepare for the celebration and coordinate with other government agencies and sectors involved therein as well as to ensure maximum participation by schools and students in the week-long schedule of activities; and WHEREAS, ,there j.s need to amend Proclamation No. 2214 declaring the second week of July every year as "National Science and Technology Week" in order to formalize the celebration of the same in the third week of July. ~ O')-1 l" tJ .J. ,) NOW, THEREFORE, I, FIDEL V.
