BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE PHILIPPINES PROCLAMATION NO.1737

DECLARING MONDAY, MARCH 9, 2009 AS “GENERAL PACIANO RIZAL DAY” IN THE PROVINCE OF LAGUNA

WHEREAS, Monday, March 9, 2009, marks the commemoration of the heroism and patriotism of the revolutionary hero, General Paciano Rizal;

WHEREAS, General Paciano Rizal rendered invaluable service to our country and to the Filipino people as an active member of the Katipunan, as Zone Commander of the Filipino forces in Laguna at the outbreak of the Philippine-American War;

WHEREAS, it is but fitting and proper to honor and recognize noble deed, sacrifice and unwavering love for the country of General Paciano Rizal and to give the people of the Province of Laguna full opportunity to celebrate the occasion with appropriate ceremonies.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, EDUARDO R. ERMITA, Executive Secretary, by authority of Her Excellency, GLORIA MACAPAGAL-ARROYO, do _ hereby declare Monday, March 9, 2009 as “General Paciano Rizal Day” in the Province of Laguna,
