; WHEREAS, Thursday, July 31, 1986, marks the 86th anniversasy, of the "Battle of Paye" in Boac, Marinduque;
\HERELS, the “Battle of Paye" is the first officially *recorded encounter between the United States Troops and
the Filipino Revolutionary Force in the Island of Marinduque es-wherein the latter inspite of poor weaponry emerged victor- ious 5
WHEREAS, the commemoration of the “Battle of Faye" will inculcate in the minds of the Marinduquefios a sense we of involvement and justifiable pride in our continuous Ss quest for freedom and justice;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, CORAZON C. AGUINO, Fresident of the ; Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by. law, do hereby declare July 31, 1986, and every year thereafter, as "Battle of Paye Day" in Boac, Marinduque. ‘The day, | however, shall be a regular working and school day. , : “IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and
