DECLARING THE PERIOD FROM APRIL 7 TO 13, 2002, AS LABOR MANAGEMENT COOPERATION WEEK

WHEREAS, the Constitution of the Philippines mandates the promotion of the “principle of shared responsibility*between workers and the employers” and the enforcement of their mutual compliance therewith to foster industrial peace;

WHEREAS, there is a need to create broader consciousness of labor-management cooperation as an effective measure to foster industrial peace and harmony;

WHEREAS, labor-management cooperation is a necessity to enable our industries to respond to the challenges of the rapidly changing global business environment and new world trade order envisioned by the General Agreement on Tariff and Trade (GATT);

NOW, THEREFORE, I, GLORIA MACAPAGAL-ARROYO, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare the period from April 7 to 13, 2002, as Labor-Management Cooperation Week.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
