PROCLAMATION NQ, 1859

DECLARING 12 SEPTEMBER 2009 AS NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER FOR PEACE AND SANCTIFICATION OF SPIRITUAL LEADERS

WHEREAS, the promotion of peace and unity among the Filipino people is a national responsibility;

WHEREAS, there is a need to pray for grace for the sanctification of our spiritual leaders to enable them to inspire and set a compassionate and moral leadership amongst our people;

WHEREAS, with the many challenges faced by our nation today, every Filipino needs to set aside differences and to join hands to endeavor in working towards the common good;

WHEREAS. a day devoted to prayer for peace process and unity and sanctification of our spiritua! leaders may serve in furtherance the achievement of these goals;

WHEREAS, in order to reaffirm the fulfillment of these goals through personal change jeading towards transformation of our naticnal life, September 12 of last year has been declared a National Day of Prayer for Peace and Reconciliation for our Nation.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, GLORIA MACAPAGAL-ARROYO, President of the Republic of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare 12 September 2009 as a National Day of Prayer for Peace and Sanctification of Spiritual Leaders.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto sel my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
