PROCLAMATION NO. 188

DECLARING TUESDAY, APRIL 30, 2002, AS A SPECIAL NON-WORKING DAY IN DAGUPAN CITY

WHEREAS, the City Government of Dagupan has launched its bid to gain the title as the Bangus Capital of the world through the first-ever Bangus Festival from April 28 to May 1, 2002. The Bangus Festival will coincide with the Pista’y Dayat 2002 celebration along the Lingayen Gulf Coastline;

WHEREAS, among the events included in the Bangus Festival is the Kalutan ed

Dagupan which is the City’s attempt to land in the Guinness Book of World Records for the longest grill at 1001 meters.

WHEREAS, officers from the Guinness Book of World Records, Manila-based journalists from both broadcast and print media, and other visitors, will be in Dagupan City to cover and to witness the affair.

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper to give Dagupefios enough time to join and celebrate this important event with appropriate ceremonies.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, GLORIA MACAPAGAL-ARROYO, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me in Book I, Chapter 7, Section 27, of the Administrative Code of 1987, do hereby declare Tuesday, April 30, 2002, as a special non-working day in Dagupan City.
