.no r""HffiPALACE BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE PHILIPPINES PROCLAMATION NO. 193 DECLARING THE MONTH OF MAYSAFETY MONTH OF EVERY YEAR AS THE ELECTRICAL WHEREAS, many lives and properties are lost due to fires andelectrocution; WHEREAS, most of these fires and incidents of electrocution are attributedto "faulty electrical wiring;,, WHEREAS, the main reason for the occurrence of fires and electrocutionfrom electrical causes is not faulty wiring;;il;;"rance in the use of electricalappliances and gadgets such as overloading of electrical ouflets and the use ofcounterfeit electrical products such as circu"it breakers, po*ui ,tn:ps, extensioncords, batteries and holiday lights that can cause fires, explosions, ;ffi; ;;;electrocutions; WHEREAS, economic losses brought about by fires contribute to reducedproductivity and therefore affect the economy of the country; WHEREAS, there is a real need to increase public awareness on electricalsafety and educate oul peopre in the safe use or "L.tri.ar apprianr", ;;|";:dd;and to bring to their consciousness the irnportance of applying these safetypractices; UHY'J" rv WHEREAS, the Bureau of Product Standards (BPS) under the Departrnentof rrade and lndustry (DTl) is the National standards Body of the philippines,mandated to deve.lop, promulgate, implement and coordinate standardizationactivities with electrical products.
