' ,,". : , ... ; , MALACANANG " , , Manila BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE PHILIPPINES PROCLAMATION NO. 1958 DECLARING THE MONTH OF DECEMBER AS "PARANGAL SA KALIPI" MONTH WHEREAS, the word Ka/ipi refers to Filipinos who have adopted the citizenship of their country of residence; WHEREAS, in this time of global uncertainty and discordance, our Ka/ipi continues to believe in the stability of the country and support it; WHEREAS, our Ka/ipi will be given recognition and special tribute during the celebration of Paranga/ sa Ka/ipi Month for their exemplary efforts in preserving and promoting Filipino culture and arts in foreign lands, for their continuous and unselfish contribution to the socio-economic development of their land of birth, and for their par ex,cellence achievements in their own fields of expertise that bring honor to our country; WHEREAS, since the majority of Ka/ipistill have strong familial ties to the Philippines through interaction with their families and through business associations; WHEREAS, through meaningful communication and collaboration with our Ka/ipi and the Filipino associations abroad will pave the way in expanding national comradehip and strong cultural sentiments with them; WHEREAS, the Paranga/ sa Ka/ipi will pave the way to encourage more Ka/ipi to support and sustain existing Filipino associations abroad and in the creation of more Filipino associations with counterpart here in the Philippines; WHEREAS, the Paranga/ sa Ka/ipi will lead the way to a sustainable closer relationship between Filipinos here and abroad in a way beneficial to both including economic benefits through dynamic business exchange by making use of existing modern information technology; ~; 11111111111111111111111111111111PGIIA Hologram If 52471 r"""""-'" ... ~ .....'.,« , i ~ .--, : ' .' , j, .., .q' . » -, .. WHEREAS, the Paranga/ sa Ka/ipi will help boost the growth and development of foreign and domestic tourism and its related industries in the Philippines; . WHEREAS, the unified and integrated national effort of both the government, private sectors and Filipino migrants abroad will ensure the attainment of the objective of this proclamation. NOW, THEREFORE, I, GLORIA MACAPAGAL-ARROYO, President of the Republic of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare the month of December as "Paranga/sa Ka/ipi" Month. All departments, agencies and instrumentalities of the government are hereby enjoined to actively support the promotion and observance of "Parangal sa Kalipi" Month with the Department of Tourism, Commission on Filipino Overseas, Department of Foreign Affairs and National Commission for Culture and the Arts as cooperating lead agencies in association with MOP Publishing House.
