PROCLAMATION NO. 203

DECLARING NOVEMBER 4 to 10, 2002 AS NATIONAL DANCESPORT WEEK

WHEREAS, the Dance Sport Council of the Philippines, Inc. is hosting the 2002 Asia Pacific Dancesport Championship on November 8 to 10, 2002;

WHEREAS, world-class dancers and judges from more than twenty countries from all over the world will join the 2002 Asia Pacific Dancesport Championship;

WHEREAS, holding the 2002 Asia _ Pacific Dancesport Championship in the Philippines will allow our countrymen to demonstrate the innate talent for dancing of Filipinos and will improve the image of our country as a tourist destination.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, GLORIA MACAPAGAL-ARROYO, President of the Republic of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare November 4 to 10, 2002 as National Dancesport Week. To ensure the success of this worthy undertaking, the Department of Tourism, Philippine Sports Commission and _ other government agencies are encouraged to support and actively participate in the preparation and implementation of the said event.
