IJ'I,PIJ {p3f M ALA CA NA N{] Manila BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE PHILIPPINES PROCLAMATION NO. 227 AUTHORIZING THE EDUCATIONAL RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT ASSISTANCE (ERDA) FOUNDATION, INC., TO CONDUCT A NATIONAL FUND CAMPAIGN FOR A PERIOD OF ONE (1) YEAR WHEREAS, the Educational Research and Development Assistance (ERDA) Foundation, Inc., a non-stock, non-profit, non-Government Organization (NGO), was originally esta- blished to assist children from indigent families, parti- cularly the school dropouts, potential school quitters, and late enrollees gain access to educational opportunities; WHEREAS, since the establishment of the Foundation in 1974, it has attended to the needs of indigent children and families by providing programs and services that eventually equip them to become productive an9 useful members of their families and communities; WHEREAS, for the current school year, some 27,500 child- ren are under the active sponsorship of ERDA, and the number of requests for additional sponsorship is increasing yearly owing to the problem of annual dropout rate of 300,000 (national statistics); WHEREAS, the ERDA Foundation is a licensed/accredited organization with the Department of Social Welfare and Deve- lopment; WHEREAS, an offshoot of the ERDA project is the esta- blishment of the ERDA TECH, which is a secondary vocational and technical school to be operated by the ERDA-TECH Founda- tion starting school year 1994-1995, will offer a five-year secondary vocational course which also incorporates the re- quired academic courses; WHEREAS, the ERDA-TECH Foundation needs the financial support of the public and private sectors, particularly those engaged in industry and business. NOW, THEREFORE, I, FIDEL V. RAMOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby authorize the Educational Research and Deve- lopment Assistance (ERDA) Foundation, Inc., in agreement with the ERDA-TECH, and the ERDA-TECH Foundation to conduct a national fund campaign for a period of one (1) year effective upon the promulgation of this proclamation. ~ 93:3035 Educational Research and Development Assistance (ERDA) Foundation, Inc. fund campaign X x 2 IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
