BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE PHILIPPINES PROCLAMATION NO. 274

DECLARING THE PERIOD FROM APRIL 2, 1988 TO APRIL 2, 1989, AS “FRANCISCO (BALAGTAS) BALTAZAR BICENTENNIAL YEAR AND AUTHORIZING THE FRANCISCO (BALAGTAS) BALTAZAR COMMISSION TO CONDUCT A NATIONAL FUND CAMPAIGN.

WHEREAS, the year 1988 marks the bicentennial of the birth of Francisco (balagtas) Baltazar, Prince of Filipino poets; and

WHEREAS, there is need to foster and propagate his nationalistic fervor as given expression in his Florante at Laura and other literary works; 3

NOW, THEREFORE, I, CORAZON C. AQUINO, President: of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare the period from April 2, 1988 to April 2, 1989, as "Francisco (Balagtas) Baltazar Bicen- tennial Year" and authorize the Francisco (Balagtas) Baltazar Commission to conduct a national fund campaign for the.above purposes for a period from April 2, 1988 to April 2, 1989.

This supersedes Proclamation No. 232, dated March 24, 1988. :
