BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE PHILIPPINES PROCLAMATION NO. 276

DECLARING DECEMBER, 1988 AND THE SAME MONTH OF EVERY YEAR THEREAFTER AS "THE MONTH OF OVERSEAS FILIPINOS"

WHEREAS, millions of Filipinos are spread in many countries OG of the world as immigrants, workers, students, and professionals;

WHEREAS, many Overseas Filipinos contributed to the struggle against the prior regime and fought for the restora- tion of Philippine democracy;

WHEREAS, Overseas Filipinos continue te contribute to building up the Philippine economy through their taxes and remittances;

WHEREAS, there is a need to recognize and honor Overseas Filipinos;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, CORAZON C. AQUINO, President of the | fe) ‘ Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law,. do hereby declare December, i988 and the same month of every year thereafter as "The Month of Overseas Filipinos".

I call upon all citizens and residents of the Philippines to give the observance of this month their full support.

This supersedes Proclamation No. 91, dated March 18, 1987.
