Manila BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE PHILIPPINES PROCLAMATION NO. 283

DECLARING THE PERIOD FROM NOVEMBER 18 TO 24, 2002, AS “CIVIL ENGINEERING WEEK”

WHEREAS, the government recognizes the important role of civil engineers in nation-building;

WHEREAS, the Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers, Inc. (PICE), will hold its national convention and annual election on November 21 to 23, 2002 at the Manila Midtown Hotel, Manila with the theme: “THE ROLE OF CIVIL ENGINEERS TOWARDS A STRONG REPUBLIC”;

WHEREAS, there is a need to focus national attention on the importance of the civil engineering profession and highlight its role in nation-building;

NOW, THEREFORE, |, GLORIA MACAPAGAL-ARROYO, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare the period from November 18 to 24, 2002, as “Civil Engineering Week” under the auspices of the Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers, Inc..

| call upon all civil engineers and students to give the observance of the week their full support.
