Proclamation No. 285, s. 1993

MALACANANG MANILA PROCLAMATION NO. --2..8.5 AMENDING PROCLAMATION NO. 355 DATED 6 JANUARY 1989 BY DECLARING THE PERIOD FROM 19 TO 23 NOVEMBER 1993, AND THE THIRD WEEK OF NOVEMBER OF EVERY YEAR THEREAFTER, AS "NATIONAL INVENTORS WEEK" WHEREAS, R.A. No. 7459 declares as a national policy giving of "priority to invention and its utilization on country's productive systems and national life"; the the WHEREAS, Proclamation No. 355, s. 1989, declared the years 1989 and 1993 and every five years thereafter as "Festival Years" of Filipino inventions to coincide with the two-stage Golden Celebration of the Filipino Inventors Society (FIS); WHEREAS, Proclamation No. 355, the last full week of February and "Inventors Week" under the auspicesorganizations. s. 1989, every of FIS likewise declaredyear thereafter as and other related WHEREAS, the FIS requests that a "National Inventors Week" be held instead from ~9 to 23 November 1993, in order to coincide with its 50th founding anniversary celebration, and in the third week of November of every year thereafter; and WHEREAS, the celebration of the National Inventors Week and the 50th founding anniversary of the FIS shall involve, among other activities, local and foreign exhibits of inventions and various symposia which will serve as venue for the exchange of ideas and information including facilitation of market opportunities to encourage the generation, promotion and development of Filipino inventive capabilities to help achieve the Government's program of Philippines 2000. NOW, THEREFORE, I, FIDEL V. RAMOS, President of the Republic of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare the period from 19 to 23 November 1993, and the third week of November of every year thereafter, as "National Inventors Week". All government agencies and offices, as well as business,commerce, agriculture and industry sectors and non-governmentorganizations, are hereby enjoined to extend every possiblesupport, assistance and cooperation in making the celebration of the "National Inventors Week" a success. ~ This Proclamation amends Proclamation No. 355, series of1989, insofar as the period for celebrating the Inventors Week isconcerned.
