BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE PHILIPPINES PROCLAMATION NO. 30

DECLARING SATURDAY, APRIL 21, 2001, AS A SPECIAL DAY IN THE MUNICIPALITY OF CALAMBA, LAGUNA

WHEREAS, Republic Act No. 9019 dated March 3, 2001, provides for the con- version of the Municipality of Calamaba, Laguna into a component city to be known as the City of Calamba and mandates the holding of plebiscite for the ratification thereof;

WHEREAS, the Commission on Elections has scheduled the plebiscite day for the ratification of the conversion of the said municipality on Saturday, April 21, 2001;

WHEREAS, to enable the residents of the said municipality to actively participate in the scheduled political exercise, there is a need to declare the plebiscite day as a special day.

NOW, THEREFORE, 1, GLORIA] MACAPAGAL-ARROYO, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare Saturday. April 21, 2001, as a special day in the Municipality of Calamba, Laguna.
