SCLARING. SEPTEMBER 20, 1986, AS JOSEFA LLAN=S EsScoré DAY IN THE, PROVINCE OF ILOCOS NORTE.

WHEREAS, the late Josefa Llanes Escoda, the distinguished daughter of Dingras, Ilocos Norte, rose from child leader to an outstandingcivic and social worker, successful ,executive, eminent humanitarian, ambassadress of goodwill, and organizer notably of the National Federation of Women of the Philippines and the Girl Scouts of the Philippines;

WHEREAS, she was killed in Fort Santiago by the Japanese during World War IT for her underground actiwities and invaluable assistance given to war prisoners and allied interness in military and concentration camps, a gallant lady and outstanding patriot to the end; and

WHUREAS, our nation should accord proper honors and memorialize this great wartime heroine worthy of emlation especially by our Filipino womanhood ;

NOW, THEREFORS, I, CORAZON C. AQUINO, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare Saturday, September 20, 1986, as “SCSEFA LLANES ESCODA DAY". in the Province of Ilocos Norte. It shall, however, be a regular and school day.

Done in the City of Manila this’Sth day of Suptrmber, in the year of Our Lord, nineteen hundred and eighty-six.
