DECLARING THE LAST WEEK OF JANUARY, 1994 AS THE “ASIAN TAERWONDO CHAMPIONSHIPS WEEK"

WHEREAS, Proclamation No. 406, series of 1989, declared the period from 1990 to 2000 as the “DECADE OF PHYSICAL FIT- NESS AND SPORTS";

WHEREAS, the Philippines is committed to host the Iith ASTAN TAERWONDO CHAMPIONSHIPS in Manila to be held on January 27 to 31, 1994;

WHEREAS, the hosting of the llth ASIAN TAEKWONDO CHAMPTONSHTIPS is likewise an cpportune occasion to show-case the country as a tourist destination and invite the world to visit the Philippines;

WHEREAS, to ensure the success of the biggest sporting event of 1994, the cooperation of, both the public and pri- vate sector is essential;

NOW, THEREFORE, I,' FIDEL V. ‘RAMOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me.by law, do

hereby declare the last week of January 1994 in the’ Sports Decade as the "ASIAN TAEKWONDO CHAMPIONSHIPS: WEEK" and Y direct the Organizing Committee of the 1]th-Asian Taekwondo ‘ Championships to act as the lead agency in planning, disse- minating information and conducting ‘the: sporting event. -
