BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE PHILIPPINES yyy OEY PROCLAMATION NO. 339 RENAMING THE JOSE P. LAUREL ROOM

WHEREAS, Resolution No. 2 dated May 6, 1998 by the National Historical Institute and Presidential Decree 260 dated August 1, 1973, declared Malacafiang Palace a National Historical Landmark:

WHEREAS, every past administration in the country reflects a particular period in our nation’s rich history; and

WHEREAS, it is only fitting and proper that Malacafang Palace, residence and office of the President of the Philippines should recognize the historic connection past presidents have with Malacafiang Palace.

NOW, THEREFORE, |, GLORIA MACAPAGAL-ARROYO, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the authority vested in me by law, do hereby rename the site of the bedroom, Malacafiang Palace, used by President Jose P. Laurel from 1943 to 1945, and henceforth be known as the Laurel Room, in recognition of the past service to the nation of President Laurel and the historic value of the location of the room in which he stayed, thereby serving as a tangible reminder of President Jose P. Laurel’s service to the nation.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, | have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
