PROCLAMATION NO. 340

DECLARING FRIDAY, AUGUST 11, 2000, AS A SPECLAL DAY IN THE PROVINCE OF SAMAR

WHEREAS, Spain declared Samar as a province independent of Leyte and Cebu on August il, 1841, which occasion is now celebrated in the Province of Samar as Samar Dav:

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the people of the Province of Samar be given full opportunity to celebrate this historic event with appropriate ceremonies;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, JOSEPH EJERCITO ESTRADA, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me in Book 1, Chapter 7, Section 27, of the Administrative Code of 1987, do hereby declare Friday, August 11, 2000, as a special day in the Province of Samar.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set mv hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
