BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE PHILIPPINES PROCLAMATION NO. 348 RENAMING THE MANUEL ROXAS ROOM

WHEREAS, Resolution No. 2 dated May 6, 1998 by the National Historical Institute and Presidential Decree 260 dated August 1, 1973, declared Malacafiang Palace a National Historical Landmark;

WHEREAS, every past administration in the country reflects a particular period in our nation’s rich history; and

WHEREAS, it is only fitting and proper that Malacanang Palace, residence and office of the President of the Philippines should recognize the historic connection past presidents have with Malacafiang Palace.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, GLORIA MACAPAGAL-ARROYO, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the authority vested in me by law, do hereby rename the Cabinet Room, Kalayaan Hall, Malacafiang Palace, and shall henceforth be known as the Roxas Room, in recognition of the historic value of the room in which President Manuel Roxas held his cabinet meetings from 1946 until 1948, as the first president of the Third Republic of the Philippines, thereby serving as a tangible reminder of President Manuel Roxas’ service to the nation.
