BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE PHILIPPINES” PROCLAMATION NO. 35

DECLARING THE PERIOD FROM AUGUST 30, 1992 TO AUGUST 30, 1993, AS THE YEAR OF JOURNALISM IN THE SERVICE OF THE NATION

• WHEREAS, the National Press Club of the Philippines will observe its 40th Charter Anniversary on October 22, 1992;

WHEREAS, the National Press Club of the Philippines is a potent professional organization dedicated to the defense and Prpmotion of press freedom and to the lofty ideals of journalism as a public service; and

WHEREAS, there is a need to focus public attention on the important role the National Press Club of the Philippines plays in upholding the freedom of the press and the dignity of the journalism profession;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FIDEL V. RAMOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare the period from August 30, 1992 to August 30, 1993, as the YEAR OF JOURNALISM IN THE SERVICE OF THE NATION, under the auspices of the National Press Club of the Philip- pines.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
