BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE PHILIPPINES PROCLAMATION NO, 359

DECLARING MONDAY, 30 OCTOBER 2023, AS A SPECIAL (NON-WORKING) DAY THROUGHOUT THE COUNTRY

WHEREAS, in Macalintal v. Commission on Elections (G.R. Nos. 263590, 263673, 27 June 2023), the Supreme Court ruled that the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections set on the last Monday of October 2023 shall proceed as scheduled;

WHEREAS, it is imperative that the people be given the full opportunity to participate in the said elections and exercise their right of suffrage.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND R. MARCOS, JR., President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare Monday, 30 October 2023, as a special (non-working) day throughout the country.
