DECLARING THE SECOND WEEK OF OCTOBER 2000 AS HEALTH SOCIAL SCIENCE WEEK

WHEREAS, the Philippine Health Social Science Association (PHSSA) is a national organization guided by a vision of persons, groups, and communities coming from different work settings, experiences, backgrounds and disciplines who work together as partners, share their knowledge and expertise in the promotion of health social science at the community and individual levels through empowering strategies;

WHEREAS, the PHSSA is undertaking the very First National Conference on Health Social Science which will be held on October 13 to 15, 2000, at Manila Midtown Hotel with this year’s theme “HEALTH AND SOCIAL SCIENCES: BRIDGING THE GAP IN THE 21 CENTURY PHILIPPINES”;

WHEREAS, there is a need to explore the relationships of health and social sciences for the enhancement of health practice and community development and to generate a deeper interest and involvement among practitioners and advocates in health;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, JOSEPH EJERCITO ESTRADA, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare the Second Week of October 2000 as “Health Social Science Week” under the auspices of the Philip- pine Health Social Science Association.

IN WITNESS WHEREOPF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
