BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE PHILIPPINES PROCLAMATION NO. 42

DECLARING SATURDAY, MAY 5, 2001, AS A SPECIAL DAY IN THE CITY OF SANTIAGO

WHEREAS, Republic Act No. 7720 converting the Municipality of Santiago into an independent component city was signed into law by former President Fidel V. Ramos on May 5, 1994;

WHEREAS, Saturday, May 5, 2001, marks the 7" Cityhood Anniversary of the City of Santiago;

WHEREAS, it is fitting that the people of the City of Santiago be given full opportunity to celebrate this milestone in their city’s history with appropriate ceremonies.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, GLORIA MACAPAGAL-ARROYO, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me in Book I, Chapter 7, Section 27, of the Administrative Code of 1987, do hereby declare Saturday, May 5, 2001, as a special day in the City of Santiago.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, | have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
