[ Proclamation No. 444, August 10, 1989 ]

DECLARING WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 30, 1989, AS A SPECIAL DAY IN THE PROVINCE OF BULACAN

WHEREAS, Marcelo H. del Pilar, our hero and patriot who used the nom de plume of “Plaridel” in his struggles in Spain to obtain reforms for the Philippines during the Spanish regime, was born in Bulacan, Bulacan, on August 30, 1850; and

WHEREAS, the people of the Province of Bulacan should be given full opportunity to celebrate Plaridel’s birthday with fitting ceremonies;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, CORAZON C. AQUINO, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare Wednesday, August 30, 1989, as a special day in the Province of Bulacan.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.

Done in the City of Manila, this 10th day of August, in the year of Our Lord, nineteen hundred and eighty-nine.
