MAL ACANAN G Manila Jvfp- /IJ I Z.2 g BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE PHILIPPINES PROCLAMATION NO. 444 DECLARING A S"TATE OF PUBLIC CALAMITY IN THE MUNICIPALITIES OF PIKIT, NORTH COTABATO AND SALIPADA K. PENDATUN, MAGUINDANAO AND CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY WHICH WERE AFFECTED BY MASSIVE FLOODING BROUGHT ABOUT BY HEAVY RAINS WHEREAS, the National Disaster Coordinating Council recommends the declaration of a State of Public Calamity in the Municipalities of Pikit,North Cotabato and Salipada K. Pendatun, Maguindanao and Cagayan de Oro City, which were affected by massive flooding brought about by heavy rains in the first week of June 1994; WHEREAS, per report of the respective Provincial Coordinating Councils, the combine number of affected population in the municipalities of Pikit, North Cotabato and Salipada K. Pendatun, Maguindanao is 5,560 families or 25,308 persons, while damage to agricultural crops was estimated at .p.2l,322 Mi WHEREAS, in Cagayan de Oro City, the flash-floods caused the death of five (5) persons, while 4,500 persons were brought to evacuation centers; NOW, THEREFORE, I, FIDEL V. RAMOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare a state of public calamity in the municipalities of Pikit, North Cotabato and Salipada K. Pendatun, Maguindanao and Cagayan de Oro City, which were affected by massive flooding caused by heavy rains. All departments and other government agencies concerned are hereby directed to implement and execute relief and rehabilitation work in accordance with existing operational plans and directives and orders issued in connection withcalamities.
