BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE PHILIPPINES PROCLAMATION NO. 444

RENAMING THE EXECUTIVE OFFICE IN HONOR OF PRESIDENT MANUEL L. QUEZON

WHEREAS, Resolution No. 2 dated May 6, 1998 by the National Historical Institute and Presidential Decree No. 260 dated August 1, 1973, declared Malacafiang Palace a National Historical Landmark;

WHEREAS, every past administration in the country reflects a particular period in our nation’s rich history; and

WHEREAS, it is only fitting and proper that Malacafiang Palace, residence and office of the President of the Philippines should recognize the historic connection past presidents have with Malacafang Palace.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, GLORIA MACAPAGAL-ARROYO, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the authority vested in me by law, do hereby rename the Executive Office, Kalayaan Hall, Malacafiang Palace, established by President Manuel L. Quezon as the location for the public office of the Presidents of the Philippines, which shall henceforth be known as the Quezon Room, in recognition of the past service to the nation of President Quezon and the historic value of the room in which he conducted many affairs of state, thereby serving as a tangible reminder of President Manuel L. Quezon’s service to the nation.
