ANA, PROVINCE OF CAGAYAN, ISLAND OF LUZON, AS MARINE RESERVE Upon recommendation of the Secretary of Environment andNatural Resources, and pursuant to the powers vested in me by law, I, FIDEL V. RAMOS, President of the Philippines, do hereby set aside, for the benefit and enjoyment of the Filipino people, subject to private rights, if there areany, Palaui Island and surrounding islets and marine waters, situated in the Municipality of Sta Ana, Province ofCagayan, as shown in the DENR Map No. -found within the following geographic coordinates as follows: 0 0 From Point 1 18 32;55.135" N latitude, longitude 122 11'14.460" E 0 0 to Pt. 2 18 35'44.108" N latitude, longitude 122 10'06.818" E 0 0 to Pt. 3 18 36'15" longitude N latitude, 120 08'24.6" E 0 0 to Pt. 4 18 34' 48"longitude. N lati t.ude, 122 06'04.8" E 0 0 to Pt. 5 18 27' 35.88 tt lonlJitude N latitude, 122 06'08" E 0 0 to -Pt. 6 18 29' 35.88"- longitude N latitude, 122 07'23.4" E 0 0 to Pt. 1 18 32'55.135" N latitude, 122 11'14.46" longitude E containing an approximate area of 7,415.48 hectares"marine protected area. as a Th( said area shall be known as "Palaui Island MarineReserve" and which shall fall under the Protected Landscape/ Seascape category of the IPAS. The site shall be under the administration and control of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources provided that it shall exercise joint administration with the Philippine Navy over that portion set aside as military reservation under Presidential Pro- clamation No. 201, dated 22 May 1967. 2 The primary purpose for the establishment of the marine reserve is to protect and conserve the ecological, bio- logical scenj.c, scientific, and educational features of the area. Sustained development of the area shall be pursued to address the social and economic needs of the local communi- ties without causing adverse impact on the environment. The destruction of the terrestrial and marine eco-systems, including the mangroves, coral reefs and seagrassbeds, or any other activity, which could disturb or destroy these ecosystems and/or resources are hereby prohibited.
