PROCLAMATION NO. 450

RENAMING THE PREMIER GUEST HOUSE IN HONOR OF ANDRES BONIFACIO

WHEREAS, Andres Bonifacio, by virtue of his exemplary life and dedication to the cause of liberty, serves as an example of heroic dedication and sacrifice for all Filipinos;

WHEREAS, Malacafiang Palace is an intangible symbol of the sovereignty which was Andres Bonifacio’s lifelong dream to achieve; and

WHEREAS, it is only fitting and proper that Malacafiang Palace, residence and office of the President of the Philippines should pay homage, as the nation renders homage, to the life and ideals of our foremost revolutionary hero.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, GLORIA MACAPAGAL-ARROYO, President of Philippines, by virtue of the authority vested in me by law, do hereby rename what was formerly known as the Premier Guest House or Presidential Residence in Malacafiang Palace and shall henceforth be known as Bonifacio Hall, in honor of the nation’s foremost revolutionary hero, Andres Bonifacio, thereby serving as a tangible reminder of Bonifacio’s civic and personal virtues to all who live, work, and visit the Palace of the People.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.

Done in the City of Manila, this 30 day of August, in the year of Our Lord, Two Thousand and Three.
