PROCLAMATION NO. 463

RENAMING THE OLD CABINET ROOM, KALAYAAN HALL, MALACANANG PALACE IN HONOR OF PRESIDENT SERGIO OSMENA

WHEREAS, Resolution No. 2 dated May 6, 1998 by the National Historical Institute and Presidential Decree No. 260 dated August 1, 1973, declared Malacafiang Palace a National Historical Landmark;

WHEREAS, every past administration in the country reflects a particular period in our nation’s rich history; and

WHEREAS, it is only fitting and proper that Malacafiang Palace, residence and office of the President of the Philippines should recognize the historic connection past presidents have with Malacanang Palace.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, GLORIA MACAPAGAL-ARROYO, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the authority vested in me by law, do hereby rename the old Cabinet Room, on the first floor of Kalayaan Hall, Malacahang Palace, as the Osmefia Room, in recognition of the historic value of the room in which President Osmefia attended meetings of the Council of State when he was Speaker of the House, and then as Vice President and Secretary of Public Instruction, and used thereafter during his presidency, thereby serving as a tangible reminder of President Sergio Osmefia’s service to the nation.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
