TO DECEMBER27, 1965, AS PHILIPPINE SPORTS': MONTH. ., WHEREAS, the greatest asset of any nation is its human',' resources, and the promotion of health ancJ wellbeing ......•. of the people through sports is one of the most important responsibilities of any government; WHEREAS, the Republic of the Philippines, which used to be the leader of sports in Asia, is nowlagging behind and needs a crash athletic program to regain its leader­ ship in this iniportant sphere of human activity; WHEREAS, during the period from November 21, 1965, to January 2, 1966, there will be held in; the Phi1:ippine~ the following big events: (1) theSecpnd Asi8Jl o Cyc1ing Championship, (2) the Asian Baseball -Conference, (3) the First Asian Amateur Tour. of Luzon, (4) the First Philippine Sports Festival and Fiar,·· (5) Miss .Asia Con~ test and (6) JVIiss Philippine Sports Popularity Contest; and "WHEREAS, the holding of these events provides an ex­ cellent opportunity to promote sports in this country and . friendly ties with other nations; Now, THEREFORE, I, Diosdado Macapagal, President of tlie Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in ine by law, do hereby declare the period from November 28 to December 27, 1965, as Philippine Sports Month under the auspices of the Philippine Amateur Athletic " Association. ;eIN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have herellnto set my "hand al1d . caused. the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed: Done in the City of Manila, this 4th day of October, of Our Lord, nineteen hundred and sixty- By. the Pl'esident: ,- 0, " SAr...v ADOR L.
