• MALACANANG Manila {vi P-U 1;J.q 7 BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE PHILIPPINES PROCLAMATION N~. 476 DECLARING THE PERIOD FROM OCTOBER 13 TO 19, NATIONAL HOG RAISING WEEK 1994, AS WHEREAS, the government recognizes the vital con- tribution of the hog raising sector to the livestock industry in particular and to the economy in general, WHEREAS, the hog sector provides the impetus for the growth of its allied industries such as corn,grains, and other sectors of the livestock industry; WHEREAS, the government recognizes the need to further develop the hog sector to achieve. global compe-titiveness; WHEREAS, the hog sector recognize8 thdt production efficiency of its upstream and downstream industries and shift to value added production are means of achieving global ompetitiveness; WHEREAS, PIGLINK '94, which is the first majoragricultural fair and exhibit to be held in Davao onOctober 14-18, 1994, will coincide with the 4thNational Hog Raisers Convention participated in by the various associations of hog raisers in the Philippines affiliated with the National Hog Raisers Group, Inc. (NHR9I) and the Philippine Association of Hog Raisers,Inc. (PAHRI) representing 95% of commercial hog raisers in the country; WHEREAS, PIGLINK '94 aims to showcase the important aspects of the livestock and feed industries with emphasis on the hog sector; WHEREAS I the theme of PIGLINK '94 is "Global Com- petitiveness for the Philippine Livestock Industry in the Year 2000"; NOW, THEREFORE, I, FIDEL V. RAMOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do herety declare the period from October 13 to 19, 1994, as "HOG RAISING WEEK." .fJ'./ ..
