PROCLAMATION NO. 477

DECLARING THE PERIOD FROM NOVEMBER 3 TO 9, 2003 AS “CIVIL ENGINEERING WEEK”

WHEREAS, the government recognizes the important role of civil engineers in nation-building;

WHEREAS, the Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers, Inc. (PICE), will hold its national convention and annual election on November 6 to 8, 2003 at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC), Pasay City;

WHEREAS, there is a need to focus national attention on the importance of the civil engineering profession and highlight its role in nation-building.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, GLORIA MACAPAGAL-ARROYO, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare the period from November 3 to 9, 2003 as "Civil Engineering Week” under the auspices of the Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers, Inc.

I call upon all civil engineers and students to give the observance of the week their full support.
