PROCLAMATION NO. 518

NAMING THE ROOM BETWEEN THE MAGSAYSAY ROOM AND THE PRIVATE DINING ROOM, MALACANANG PALACE, AS THE CARLOS P. GARCIA ROOM

WHEREAS, Resolution No. 2 dated May 6, 1998 by the National Historical Institute and Presidential Decree No. 260 dated August 1, 1973, declared Malacafiang Palace a National Historical Landmark;

WHEREAS, every past administration in the country reflects a particular period in our nation’s rich history; and

WHEREAS, it is only fitting and proper that Malacafiang Palace, residence and office of the President of the Philippines should recognize the historic connection past presidents have with Malacafiang Palace.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, GLORIA MACAPAGAL-ARROYO, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the authority vested in me by law, do hereby name the room between the Magsaysay Room and the Private Dining Room, Malacafiang Palace, as the Garcia Room, in recognition of the historic value of the room in which President Carlos P. Garcia enjoyed his moments of recreation during his presidency, thereby serving as a tangible reminder of President Carlos P. Garcia’s administration.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
