BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE PHILIPPINES PROCLAMATION NO, 52

DECLARING THE FIRST WEEK OF FEBRUARY OF EVERY YEAR AS "PRE-NEED CONSCIOUSNESS WEEK"

WHEREAS, the concept of pre-need encourages a more confident outlook for the future through the anticipation of and the preparation for the eventualities of life;

WHEREAS, pre-need prepares Filipino families, individuals and communities for the future by providing them with products and services | that address their needs even before these needs arise, thus allowing them to cope with the spiraling costs of living and dying;

WHEREAS, being one of the country's rapidly growing businesses, the pre-need industry generates gainful employment and livelihood for hundreds of thousands of Filipinos, as well as long-term savings and revenues for government, thus serving as a major contributor to the social and economic development of our country.

WHEREAS, despite the services, benefits and contributions of pre- need to the social and economic well-being of our countrY and our people, there is a need to increase awareness and appreciation of the majority of our population about the concept of pre-need and the vital role it plays in securing the future and providing comfort and peace of mind;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, GLORIA MACAPAGAL-ARROYO, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare the First Week of February of every year as "Pre-Need Consciousness Week".
