MALACAN'ANG Manila NF#J 148;), BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE PHILIPPINES PROCLAMATION NO. 521 DECLARING MONDAY, JANUARY 9, PROVINCE OF PANGASINAN 1995, AS A SPECIAL DAY IN THE WHEREAS, the 50th anniversary of the Lingayen Landings will be observed in Lingayen, Pangasinan, neighboring cities and municipalities, on January 7-9, Gulf and1995; WHEREAS, the landing,s of US and Allied Forces in thecities/municipalities of Lingayen, Sual, Binmaley, San Fabian, Dagupan and San Carlos on January 7-9, 1995 marked the start of the liberation of the island of Luzon from enemy occupation during World War II; WHEREAS, the people of Pangasinan af'firm their continued loyalty to the principles of freedom and democracy, for which they need time to appropriately observe and reflect on the significance of the occasion; NOW, THEREFORE, I, FIDEL V. RAMOS, President of thePhilippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare Monday, January 9, 1995, as a special day in the Province of Pangasinan. For this purpose, I call upon the Local Government of Pangasinan to spearhead the activities to celebrate the landings in the' Lingayen Gulf in meaningful rites andceremonies.
