DECLARING THE FIRST WEEK OF MAY |OF EVERY YEAR AS NATIONAL. TOURISM WEEK

PROCLAMATION NO. 549

WHEREAS, the government: s immediate goal to acce- , lerate economic recovery calls flor a concerted and vigorous effort to itprove the tourism industry;

WHEREAS, the proper prdjection and promotion of the Philippines as a wholesome tourist destination require that efforts of both the government and the private sectors be harnessed; - ,

WHEREAS, it is desirable that the nation should celebrate at least once a year aj National Tourism Week in order to remind the citizenry of| the importance of tourism industry to the overall development efforts of the country; |

NOW, THEREFORE, I, CORAZON C. AQUINO, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare the first week|of May of every year as National Tourism Week. The Secretary of Tourism is hereby , authorized to call upon any department, agency, office or ‘ assist in the pursuit of © = "> the objectives of this Proclamation.
