Mr)J ,~ PMS U8RAR)' OCT 0 6 1992 MALACANANO Manila BY THE PRESIDENT O'F THE PHILIPPINES PROCLAMATION NO. 55 DECLARING THE MONTH OF JANUARY OF EVERY YEAR AS POLICE SERVICE MONTH WHEREAS, the Philippine National Police, an agency under the National Police Commission, plays a pivotal role in the maintenance of peace and order and national security; WHEREAS, the discharge of police functions has direct and immediate impact on the quality of life and security of the citizens; WHEREAS, there is need for increased sensitivity to crimes and disorder, necessitating greater public concern and support to law enforcement work; WHEREAS, It is advisable that a month be set aside every year to focus nationwide attention on the significance of law enforce- ment and the maintenance of peace and order; NOW, THEREFORE, I, FIDEL V. RAMOS, President of the Philippines,- by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do here- by declare the month of January of every. year as Police ServiceMonth. The National Police Commission shall be the lead agency in undertaking police-citizen activities nationwide during the said month IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
