PROCLAMATION NO. 576

DECLARING LEANDRO V. LOCSIN AS NATIONAL ARTIST

WHEREAS, the Constitution provides for State patronage of the arts*and letters;

WHEREAS, the category known as National Artist was created under Proclamation No. 1001, dated April 27, 1972;

WHEREAS, preeminent achievements deserve the recognition and acknowledgment of our Government in pursuit of its policy of preserving and developing Filipino culture and a national identity;

WHEREAS, the works and achievements of Leandro V. Locsin in the field of architecture are reflective of his preeminent excellence, and of that national genius that contributes to the artistic heritage of the Philippines and the world;

NOW, THEREFORE, !, CORAZON C. AQUINO, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, and upon recommendation of the Cultural Center of the Philippines, and ______ the_Presfdential Commission_on.Culture andthe Arts, and_pursuant--—— to Proclamation No. 1001,edo hereby declare Leandro V. Locsin as
