PROCLAMATION NO. 587

DECLARING THE PERIOD FROM APRIL 1 TO 7, 2004 AS “HOG FARMERS WEEK”

WHEREAS, the National Federation of Hog Farmers, Inc. (NFHFI), is a non- stock, non-profit umbrella organization of autonomous associations, with a_ total individual membership of more than 2,000 hog farmers;

WHEREAS, the NFHFI will hold its 13" National Convention and Exhibit on April 2 to 4, 2004 at the SM Megatrade Hall 2 & 3, Edsa, Mandaluyong City;

WHEREAS, it is necessary to focus our national attention on the role which the hog farming sector plays in accelerating the development of the livestock industry;

WHEREAS, there is the imperative need to rechannel the hog farmers’ energies towards excellence in production, animal health and become most vital in the daily food chain, responsible for the Filipino consumers’ daily pork requirements;

WHEREAS, the NFHFI believes in being self-directed and empowered to instill in all its members and actualize the goals of the present administration’s food security program.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, GLORIA MACAPAGAL-ARROYO, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare the period from April 1 to 7, 2004 as “Hog Farmers Week”.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
