.- MALACANANG Manila M'F-N BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE PHILIPPINES PROCLAMATION NO. 593 DECLARING THE MONTH OF SEPTEMBER 1995 AS NATIONAL CENSUS MONTH WHEREAS, Batas Pambansa BIg. 72, entitled "An Act Provid- ing for the Taking of an Integrated Census Every Ten Years Beginning in the Year Nineteen Hundred and Eighty, and for Other Purposes", provides for the conduct of the national census of population and other related data every decade beginning in 1980; WHEREAS, the 1991 Local Government Code sets the popula- tion census counts as benchmarks for Internal Revenue- Alloca- tion (IRA) and for creation and conversion of local governmentunits; WHEREAS, thele is a strong clamor and widespread sentationfrom the local government units and other for the conduct of a mid-decade census of population; repre- sectors thereof and WHEREAS, Congress finds cognizance appropriated a national budget therefor; NOW, THEREFORE, I, FIDEL V. RAMOS, President of thePhilippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare September 1995 as the NATIONAL CENSUS MONTH. All departments and other governmcnt agencies, including government-owned or controlled corporations, as well as local government units, are hereby directed to implement and execute the operational plans, directives, and orders of the National Statistical Coordination Board, through the National Stat.istics Office, relative to this Proclamation Order. Everyone is called upon to give this activity the support and cooperation for its success.
