PROCLAMATION NO. 606

DECLARING THE MONTH OF APRIL AS THE "PANAGYAMAN RICE FESTIVAL”, THE NATIONAL CELEBRATION OF SUCCESSFUL RICE HARVEST

WHEREAS, the month of April is the month of harvest- of rice and basic food crops;

WHEREAS, the success of rice production and harvest in April provides substance and significance to the festivities and fiestas held across the country in May and June;

WHEREAS, to express our ‘pasasalamat’ for a very successful implementation of hybrid rice production and irrigation development programs, it is appropriate to declare the month ‘of April as the “PANAGYAMAN RICE FESTIVAL"; the first such national celebration dedicated to the successes of small farmers, the backbone in the campaign for a Hunger Free Philippines.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, GLORIA MACAPAGAL-ARROYO, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare the. month of April as the “PANAGYAMAN RICE FESTIVAL”.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
